Pure Cinnamon® is the brand name of Pure Cinnamon Exports (Pvt) Ltd.


Pure Cinnamon® aims to;

  1. Exclusively promote export of Cinnamon Zeylanicum, also known as Ceylon Cinnamon or True Cinnamon products from Sri Lanka without blending them with other Cassia varieties of i) Cinnamomum Cassia, commonly known as Cassia or Chinese Cinnamon), ii) Cinnamomum Burmannii (Indonesian Cassia) and iii) Cinnamomum Loureiroi (Vietnamese Cassia);

  2. Be among the most innovative Cinnamon Zeylanicum exporters in Sri Lanka, while investing in research, development and acquisition of related intellectual property rights;

  3. Increase value addition encompassing the entire supply chain from plantation ownership, processing, product differentiation, packaging to shipping;

  4. Adhere to strict quality and food safety practices while complying to international standards;

  5. Form mutually beneficial partnerships with businesses and consumers based on trust, adherence to strict quality compliance and customer satisfaction;

  6. Conduct training and improve income levels and living standards of the cinnamon growing community in Sri Lanka.

All cinnamon is not the same. There are different types of cinnamon that originate from and grow in different places. And they all taste a bit different from one another. Cinnamon is separated into two main categories: cassia cinnamon and True Ceylon pure cinnamon. While both are harvested in sheets found beneath the bark of trees belonging to the same scientific family, they produce distinctly different products. The two types of cinnamon are differentiated by the way they are harvested, their taste, their smell, and the chemical compounds found within them.

Cinnamon Zeylanicum Vs Cassia

Cinnamomum Zeylanicum is a tree indigenous to Sri Lanka which produces the highest grade of pure cinnamon. Cinnamon grown and produced in Sri Lanka has built for itself a long-standing reputation in the international markets for exceptional quality, unique color, flavor, and aroma quite distinct from cinnamon sourced from other countries around the world.

Both Cinnamon Zeylanicum and other cassia varieties are tree bark from the same family of plant, but not from the same plant. Even though Cinnamon Zeylanicum and cassia varieties are related, both should not be treated as the same spice as both are different in nutritional value. In addition, the chemical profiles of each variety is quite different; and one of the most important differences is the amount of Coumarin content, a substance known to cause liver damage found in each variety.
